PLASTIC BAN: NEED OF THE
HOUR
Choose
Earth Over Plastic!
Plastic
has become one of the biggest threats to our environment. It is used everywhere
because it is cheap, lightweight, and convenient. However, plastic does not
decompose easily. It stays in the environment for hundreds of years, polluting
land, rivers, and oceans. This is why banning single-use plastic has become the
need of the hour.
Plastic
waste harms animals, birds, and marine life. Many animals mistakenly eat
plastic, thinking it is food. This leads to illness or death. In oceans,
plastic breaks into tiny particles called microplastics, which enter the food
chain and harm humans as well. Plastic bags clog drains and cause floods during
heavy rain. Burning plastic releases toxic gases that pollute the air and harm
health.
A
plastic ban encourages people to use eco-friendly alternatives like cloth bags,
jute bags, metal bottles, and reusable containers. Students can play an
important role by refusing plastic straws, bags, and cups. Schools can start
“No Plastic” campaigns to spread awareness. Proper waste segregation and
recycling also reduce plastic pollution.
The
Earth can become cleaner only when everyone takes responsibility. By reducing
plastic use, we protect soil, water, animals, and our own health. A
plastic-free world is possible if we make small changes every day. Let us
choose Earth over plastic and build a healthier future.
